How To Make A GIF

I generally teach this lesson leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday. I find it’s a great way to prevent my students from checking out early as many them are delighted to learn rudimentary animation techniques. It’s something that seems like it should be really easy, but learning how to make a GIF is actually far from intuitive. This lesson make it easy though.

Teaching your students how to make a GIF is a fun way to introduce something new and it offers your students the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity.

My demo animation is only three frames, but I’ve found that it provides enough instruction for students to create much longer animations, and as a plus, the projects are fun to share vai Twitter. I’ve provided several student made projects below. Enjoy
